Cats are meowing, scratching, litter tossing fur companions, yet we love them so much. Who hasn’t been woken at 3 am on a work night only to find that your cat wants nothing at all? We arrive home the following day from work to find the couch has been torn up, and there is a trail of cat litter that ends on top of that nice comforter you just bought. Yet how can we fault cats for being cats?
Most people acknowledge that every cat is awesome. There are even a few people who pretend they don’t like cats, yet they secretly admire them from a distance.
Some cats are so big and flouffy that you can’t help but think that they look so cute. Then there are the freaky looking cats, such as the Sphynx, who have no hair, yet they’re still adorable.
Cats do so much catnapping that they make us long for their attention. When are they going to wake up? Because us humans are ready for some kitty action, like cuddling, meowing, and playing.
Cats often endure themselves to us because just when we despair of ever training them to do anything, one day they do it. When we pat our lap or the scratching post, they take a leap up. And they do it again and again, or most of the time anyway.
We train them to shake a paw, roll over, or to leap over a box. This just goes to prove that they’re far smarter than dogs who always do what they’re told. But a cat thinks about it first, deciding whether to listen to you or not. Now that takes some true intelligence!
There’s also something about the smell of a cat. No, not their stinky litter box, but the way their fur smells. Many cat owners won’t admit that they sniff the back of a cat’s neck. It’s like a combination of baby powder and musk, and somehow bonds us to our cats even more.
Some cats are cat burglars. A few have been professionally trained to steal the neighbor’s jewels—check out the videos—but mostly they like to steal our stuff. It doesn’t even make sense. A sock here, a bottle cap, a q-tip—it doesn’t take much to make them happy!
